About Gigabyte Gaming OC GeForce RTX 4070Ti
The RTX 4070 Ti is a rebranding of the previously announced, and quickly canceled, RTX 4080 12GB card which was priced at $899. Both the cards feature similar specs, with Nvidia revising the price of the 4070 Ti to make it around 10% cheaper than the 4080 12GB model. The step down in the series also makes sense – the 4070 Ti is spec’ed much lower than the 4080 16GB model with 7680 CUDA cores (vs. 9728), 192-bit memory bus (vs 256-bit), 504 GB/s memory bandwidth (vs 736 Gb/s), and 35.8B GPU transistors (vs 45.9B) among other things. However, it does feature a slightly better boost clock speed of 2.6Ghz (vs 2.5Ghz), and a much lower TGP requirement at 285W compared to 4080’s 320W, and 4090’s whopping 450W.
The card uses Gigabyte’s Windforce Cooling System which features three 100mm fans (with addressable RGB support) that use an alternating spinning function to dissipate heat. It also has a large heatsink at the back, along with a vapor chamber and heat-pipes near the chipsets to keep the temperatures in check. At idle, with the fans speeds at zero (the default fan curve), the card measured a reasonably cool 41C. Under heavy load, the card posted 60-65C which is in line with the other RTX 40 series cards.
